Mediumship Insights: What I Wish I Had Known About Mediumship 20 Years Ago
As a medium, I have grown accustomed to seeing spirits, multi-coloured orbs, hearing conversations in empty rooms, and experiencing profound moments of claircognisance. Looking back, I yearned for the knowledge and guidance that could have made those early moments more meaningful, but I didn’t know what was happening, so I didn’t know who to ask.
Join me as I share my insights and what I wish I had known about mediumship two decades ago.
Communicating with spirits is part of a much bigger picture
Communicating with spirits is just a fraction of mediumship’s vast tapestry. Initially, I believed my purpose as a medium was to convey messages from those who had crossed over; this is what I had seen on TV and read in books. I later realised this limited perception failed to explain my many extraordinary encounters. Lucid dreams, geometric shapes, orbs, and the profound sense of knowing, were all part of this intricate world.
Conversations around mediumship should embrace its multifaceted nature and explore these fascinating aspects that go beyond conventional narratives. I found that the entire universe is trying to tell us its story. In my experience, there appears to be a divide between the old and new spiritualist movements, with the latter focused on being the voice of the departed.
Vibrating/Shakes
So if you haven’t experienced this, bear with me.
I used to wake up in the middle of the night vibrating, but I had a lot going on then, so waking up with the shakes was the least of my issues.
When I was about 13 years old, I confided in a school nurse about the inexplicable vibrations coursing through my body. She suggested they might be fits and left it at that. They did subside for about fifteen years, only resurfacing later in my life.
When they came back, I could better assess what was happening. I realised it wasn’t my body vibrating but my energy, like one of those old-timey exercise machines that people used to stand on.
There doesn’t appear to be a lot of information about this, but it felt like a mixture of spiritual downloads and Source adapting my energy for my awakening (excuse the pun). Whenever it got too intense, I’d ask my Guides to pull back a bit so that I could go back to sleep.
The mysterious world of vivid dreams
Dreams have always held a special place in my heart. For decades there were places I would fondly remember as being part of my childhood —parks, tree-lined streets, and buildings. These memories were so vivid I could (and still can) recall the smells, the sensations, and the people. However, as I got older, I realised I only ever visited these places in my dream state.
Occasionally, I would dream of a house with a rooftop swimming pool. I secretly hoped it was a premonition of my future home. But one day, I was giving a reading, and the image of this house came to mind, and being an obedient medium (say what you see), I described the house to the client. It turns out it was her neighbour’s house. I had been dreaming of this person’s home for at least four years to use it as evidence during the reading.
Even now, these dreamscapes persist, familiar to me as my own neighbourhood; some are animated and narrated, while others serve as platforms for my Guides to take me on enlightening journeys.
I genuinely love and am grateful for my dreams: the good, bad and the others.
Famous spirits
Although I’ve seen things that are hard to explain, I still have a healthy dose of scepticism. I used to doubt stories of Mediums encountering famous spirits or channelling the presence of historical icons. However, two extraordinary incidents compelled me to reevaluate my scepticism. I’ve realised if I give something the side-eye, my Guides like to step in to prove me wrong. They will bring someone forward I don’t know very well and then give me a lot of information, and I have to go and search for confirmation.
There’s something quite funny about sitting at home stuffing my face and when a US founding father, musician or famous scientist pops in. As I’ve mentioned in other posts, I enjoy being visited by spirits because I get to meet energies I usually wouldn’t.
These encounters shattered my doubts and reinforced the power and authenticity of spirit communication.
Orbs and geometric shapes
After a healing session, I encountered my first orb—an enormous blue sphere gently approached me; it had the cadence of someone walking towards me. Initially, I was scared, but I’ve grown accustomed to their presence and now greet them with warmth, acceptance, and a hello.
Seeing geometric shapes and mathematical equations just after I wake up has become the norm. I feel slightly bad because maths is not my strong point, but I scribble them down in the hope they will make sense one day.
Conclusion
I wish I had known sooner that there is an expansive world outside the physical. After realising this and digging deeper, I didn’t feel so alone anymore, as others were experiencing the same as me.
Discovering the captivating world beyond the physical is a revelation that should not be delayed. Unveiling the mysteries of mediumship and delving into its vastness has illuminated my path and alleviated the solitude I once experienced. Knowing that others have encountered similar wonders has fostered a sense of community and understanding. So embrace the extraordinary, expand your horizons, and embark on a journey transcending this earthly plane’s boundaries.
